A wedding on my birthday!

This year my birthday happened to be the same day as the wedding of two friends of ours, Estelle and Bernhard. They are a franco-german couple who live close to us, so we see them fairly often. They have a little boy Nathanael, who will be two in november.

After the wedding in the center of town we went to Langoiran, for the reception. There is a medieval castle there that is still privately owned and rented often for parties. The following photos are at the reception. The castle has a really great view.

 At the party they had picture frames and costumes so that people could dress up and take pictures, so naturally we had to participate, yes the person in purple is me! I thought Jeremie looked good in glasses frankly!

Overall a great time and we were so happy to share this day with the happy couple!

I am really just terrible about updating my blog at the moment. I spend so much time job searching that there really isnt that much fun stuff going on to chat about.

This past weekend we went to the Medoc with some friends of ours to do some wine tasting for the open houses in the Medoc region. Overall a really good experience.

Saturday we started things off with Chateau Clement Pichon.


Then we went to Chateau Desmirail. Where they had a bunch of old classic cars, including a citroen traction 11B, not belonging to the chateau. A car club had volunteered to drive people from this chateau to another one nearby as a fun outing. So I got to ride to the next place after our tour.

 Instead of having a pathway above the tanks they had cut into the floor above the wooden tanks to allow for easier access. In the second cellar they had the "normal" walkways above.

After we went to chateau Julia, a garage wine. Her vines are directly neighboring to those of Lynch Bages. She has 0.6 hectars of vines, which is basically six rows of vines, a very small production. A very nice wine. 

After chateau Julia we went to Lynch Bages, in the city of Bages, which is adorable. The tour was very crowded. 

By far the best wine of the weekend. A complex wine with a very strong fruit, but yet spicy. You could smell cinnamon, liquorice, and vanilla without it overpowering the fruit. Very balanced overall, not to tannic. 

We finished off saturday at chateau Chantelys. Where they had opened as a bar à vin that night and were serving a large selection of different years. They had 1996, 2001, 2006, 2009. 

On sunday we stopped at chateau Chasse Spleen on our way back to Bordeaux.

Wow its been a while!

Hi everyone!!! 

I realize that I havent updated my blog in a really long time but I thought that I would update it seeing as I have five days off at the moment. 

I just finished my finals for june, and I am waiting to hear about the results. 

I have not been back to Normandy for a while actually, with our new car though we drove up and brought everything to make it a Boyle style vacation (ie fill the car with all the sports gear it can hold). We brought two bikes, horse riding gear, baseball gear, and all the toys for the dogs as well as hiking boots. 

We are having fun, well I am having fun, Jeremie has a lot of papers to grade. As always we are not in sync. It makes sense I just finished my exams so I am on break and his students did the same thing, so he has papers to grade!

The first day we got here besides sleep, I went hiking while Jeremie corrected. The next day we went bike riding and got soaked by a sudden thunderstorm, so we cut the ride a little short and went back to Bretoncelles to warm up. 

Today our ride was beautiful. The photo above is Jeremie coming down a steep incline of this little town, I think it is adorable. It has a restaurant built over a mill. The photo below is Jeremie asking the cows numbers 30, 33 and 34 if they wouldnt like to be his next steak tartare.... They belong to a guy that you can actually pick out your cow, so it made sense.

I have been going to do my stage on and off, and was really happy to have a wedding this weekend. We have another wedding next weekend too!! So much fun!!

my birthday and following weekend

Recently I celebrated my 24th birthday with a few friends at my place. I played a small trick on them because I opened a wine from Oregon, which I then asked them to identify (I had hid the bottle), and since it doesn't taste at all or look like a pinot noir from France, they had a little bit of a hard time guessing it. It was fun.

They all made fun of my very "American" birthday cake, the French don't use as much frosting as we do, and if they do it is more icing not so much frosting.

The following weekend, we headed to Limoges to go to a suprise party for a friend of mine. We went walking with another friend of ours, Marion who lives in Limoges now.

Puja as you can see below went swimming and then was too tired to climb out, but she managed to get out of the stinky pond water eventually. The drive back was to put it nicely potent with the two of them....haha.

After our weekend away, we came back to Bordeaux and since then I have been taking more exams and preparing for starting my internship this summer.
